Winemaker Notes

The grapes for the spicy, persistent Contrada come from over 50-year-old Nero d'Avola vines. Rich, lush bouquet of black cherries and plums, wonderfully fruity aromas on the palate with notes of leather, spices and liquorice. Seduces powerfully, with vitality and freshness, tension and a very distinguished elegance. 

This is a Nero d’Avola from organic/biodynamically farmed old vines grown on volcanic soils in Vittoria. This cuvee is produced in only the best vintages. Fermented whole-cluster in concrete vats with indigenous yeasts. Aged in large barrels and bottled unfined and unfiltered, with minimal sulfur. 

Juicy and powerful, with black fruit, earth and spice, and notes of tobacco.
