93pts Vinous

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is one of the more open-knit Cabernets I have ever tasted here. Although the 2017 does not have the depth or dimension of the very finest years, in exchange, it will drink well pretty much upon release, which is highly unusual for this typically slow-to-mature Cabernet. Floral and savory overtones add shades of nuance to a core of expressive red-toned fruit in a sensual, totally alluring Cabernet from the Togni family.

Winemaker Notes

The 2017 wine was made from a low (2.6 tons per acre) yield blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, all grown on slopes at 2,000 feet elevation here at our vineyard on Spring Mountain overlooking the Napa Valley. Warm fermentations produced a bone-dry wine aged in 100% French oak, 40% of which was new. The wine was racked every 3 months, with no fining or filtration and will benefit from long-term aging.
