93pts Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon is explosive on the nose with a dark juicy core of black and red fruit tones and hints of blue fruits, boasting exotic florals and sweet spices from the toasted oak. The palate is lush and boldly expands with a full-bodied expression that has depth and breadth. This intense wine ends with a long-lingering finish that is powerful and shows impeccable balance. It's an impressive wine, and only 812 cases were made.

Winemaker Notes

The 2014 Cab is a gorgeous wine produced in a warm year that ended dry and cool. This is probably the largest mouthful of Classic Cab we have ever aged and blended. The cherry bomb / blackberry wild and complicated long smooth tannins are amazing. I just love it. After overnight open decantering this wine is still all there. This tells me we have 20-30 years worth of ageability. Loess Vineyard in particular produces my favorite deep dark flavors. The Weinbau Cab Franc is old and hard to come by. Gamache Vineyard, Bacchus Vineyard, Pepper Bridge and Seven Hills, all historic and extremely well-managed. Windrow is, of course, the oldest Cab planting in the entire Seven Hills / Rocks area. Wallula Vineyard is rapidly becoming known as the second coming of Champoux Vineyard and exhibits remarkably balanced fruit.

Hand-picked, simple crush. Hand-pressed on a wooden basket press, gravity fed to cellar, three years aging. Bottled in-house, waxed and labeled by hand.

Blend:  92% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot, 3% Cab Franc
