Made in the méthode traditionnelle, this wine blends Pinot Noir (70%) from Premier Cru vineyards in the Montagne de Reims with Chardonnay (30%) primarily from Grand Cru Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Chouilly. It was aged more than three years—way over the minimum for a non-vintage Champagne. The bubbles generate goosebumps on the tongue as orange peel, tarragon, peaches, caramel, and cinnamon join together for an exciting ending.
Winemaker Notes
The wine has a bright, sustained golden color, enhanced by an attractive, persistent string of bubbles. The elegant, dense, complex bouquet reveals a wide range of aromas such as lime blossom, hints of toasted bread and honey. The splendid mouthfeel is full and rich but well balanced, leaving a delightful freshness on the palate.
Blend: 70% Pinot Noir grapes and 30% Chardonnay grapes.
While Agoston Haraszthy was most recognized as being the Father of California viticulture, he was also the father of six illustrious children. His third son, Arpad, spent over two years in France learning the craft of sparkling wine production and later became the first to introduce Méthode Traditionelle sparkling wine into California winemaking. Arpad's sparkling, Eclipse, was one of the most celebrated in the nineteenth century; we pay tribute to his legacy.
