The 2017 Prisoner Wine Company Cuttings is an outstanding example of the New Wave Napa Valley. While one can still locate a few 12.5% to 13.5% ABV red wines, there are many more in the 15%+ category. Yet not all are good, the 2017 Prisoner Wine Company Cuttings Cabernet Sauvignon at 15.4% is admirable in how it captures the spirit of the Napa Valley. This wine is seductive—there, I said it! Its aromas and flavors of boysenberry, black fruits, oak, violets provide a magic carpet ride for all the senses. Pair it with aged cheddar, Asiago, aged Parmesan, and cheeses in that grouping. Deliciously smooth with flavors of blueberry, dark cherry, and cocoa. Aromas of fresh roasted coffee, black currant, vanilla bean, brown spice, and wild berries.
Blend: 80% Cabernet Sauvignon; 20% Blend of Petite Sirah, Syrah, and Zinfandel
