95pts Jasper Morris

This is a mix of Grands and Petits Epenots together. It is easy to perceive that the Petits sector is Anne’s favourite. 40% whole bunches and 50% new wood have been employed. Medium depth, more crimson than purple. There is some elegance to the nose. Anne says that this wine is normally more floral, but I can see the flowers here nonetheless. Fruit fills the palate without being overly weighty; indeed it is very long, ‘haute couture’ according to Anne. A graceful and intellectual Pommard. Excellent length.  Barrel Sample: 93-95

Notes of wood and menthol combine with those of red currant, dark raspberry and plenty of earth and floral scents. The velvety yet quite powerful big-bodied flavors also brim with sappy dry extract that pushes the otherwise notably firm tannic spine to the background on the built-to-age, balanced and wonderfully persistent finale where the wood telegraphed by the nose reemerges. This built-to-age effort will need time to absorb its oak but is otherwise excellent.  Barrel Sample: 91-93

Winemaker Notes

Delicacy, density, and an innate sens of balance are typical of this great wine. Its color is intense, the nose is very expressive with violet and red fruit aromas like cherry or morello cherry, which express a great complexity. The mouth is fleshy and concentrated, and the tannins are fine, velvety, and elegant.
