92pts Jeb Dunnuck
Leading off the four Châteauneuf du Pape releases, the 2018 Châteauneuf Du Pape (70% Grenache and 15% each of Syrah and Mourvèdre) offers lots of blackberry fruits as well as notes of violets, flowers, and sandy, loamy earth. It’s medium-bodied, with a silky texture, ripe tannins, and the charming nature of the vintage front and center. Range: 90-92
This wine showcases the purity of the fruit that comes straightforward to the nose. It is so appealing when a wine shows beautifully when you open it and you pour it in the glass. Though this wine is 80% destemmed, it has a very elegant and balanced style: it is a medium bodied wine with a silky texture and ripe tannins. This wine is what any Chateauneuf lovers expect in a classic wine: dark color, racy, silky tannins and freshness (due to its good acidity).
This wine has a generous fruity nose: red fruits, violet, licorice that will match very well with French cuisine and also any meat lovers dishes.
