Lush and harmonious, setting the stage for vivid blackberry and black cherry flavors. Verges on tangy, courtesy of lively acidity, with graphite and spice elements lingering on the extended aftertaste. Best from 2022 through 2038. 615 cases made, 45 cases imported. — BS
92pts Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos de Thorey is showing beautifully, wafting from the glass with a lovely bouquet of cherries, wild berries and cassis, mingled with notes of raw cocoa, cinnamon and sweet forest floor. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and velvety, with a sappy core of nicely concentrated fruit, melting tannins and lively acids. Exemplifying the elegant style of contemporary Domaine de la Vougeraie, this has turned out very well.- WK
This old-vine monopole holding of 3ha is partly used for the domaine's excellent Terre de Famille blend, but it's good to see it get a solo billing too. Fermented with 50% whole bunches and aged in 20% new wood, this has good focus and zip, with subtle reduction and tangy red cherry and raspberry fruit.
