95-97pts Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2016 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts has a very pure, quite generous and maybe more expressive bouquet compared to the Aux Brûlées at the moment with copious black cherries, raspberry coulis and crushed flower aromas. The palate has superb energy and precision, extremely detailed with layers of mineral-soaked red and black fruit commingling on the sustained finish that fans out with style and panache. God...I love this. One of Etienne's best in 2016. (NM)    (12/2017)

92-94pts Allen Meadows - Burghound

A slightly higher-toned, pure and distinctly cool nose displays notes of red cherry, rose petal, lavender, hoisin and sandalwood. The more mineral-driven if less powerful medium weight flavors brim with minerality on the concentrated, intense and sleekly muscled finish that goes on and on. As is usually the case this is more refined than the Brûlées but a bit more harmonious overall. Lovely juice. *Outstanding*   (1/2018)

92-94pts Vinous

Dark red with ruby tones. Very ripe, deep, youthfully tight aromas of blackberry and licorice pastille. Velvety black fruits on entry, then chewy and backward in the middle palate, displaying pungent mineral and crushed rock notes and more obvious power than the Brûlées. As ripe as this wine is, it's more savory than sweet, and its tight kernel of fruit doesn't quite come alive today. Perhaps on the verge of surmaturité, but I'm encouraged by the wine's finishing violet lift. (ST)    (1/2018)

Jancis Robinson

Dark crimson. Edgy and subtle. Real raciness and roundness. Really glorious! So pure and fresh. Savoury and electric. Great energy on the end. 18/20 points. (JR)    (11/2017)
