94pts Decanter

Tighter and better balanced than the Drouhins' Les Embazées premier cru in 2017, this is entirely sourced from the prestigious Laguiche holdings. It has a beautifully judged combination of leesy texture, aromatic spices and 30% new wood, finishing with bright, refreshing acidity. Drinking window 2020-2027. (TA) (11/2018)

Obviously I have a soft spot for this beautiful bottling of Morgeot, as I wrote a feature on the Marquis de Laguiche bottling back in the spring. The 2017 version is flat out stunning and was one of the very best premier cru whites I tasted from the Côte de Beaune in November. The wine was still in cask in November and absolutely singing, as it delivers a beautiful aromatic constellation of pear, apple, orange zest, crème patissière, complex chalky soil elements, vanillin oak and a lovely floral topnote redolent of lemon blossoms. On the palate the wine is pure, fullbodied, focused and racy, with a great core of fruit, stellar soil signature, bright, zesty acids and laser-like focus on the very long, very pure and refined finish. Great juice. 2018-2045+.(12/2018)

94pts James Suckling

A very attractive, complex nose with a bright array of lemons and white peaches, as well as flinty and stony nuances. The palate delivers weight and freshness. Really attractive and lithe with a vibrant array of limes and young nectarines at the finish. Drink or hold.

94pts Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Marquis de Laguiche is showing brilliantly from bottle, wafting from the glass with a lovely bouquet of orange oil, nutmeg, Anjou pear, white peach, honeycomb and wheat toast. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and succulent, with an elegantly textural attack, fine concentration at the core and racy underpinning acids. Harmonious and complete, this is routinely one of Drouhin's finest white wines, and that is true in 2017 also. (WK) (2/2020)

91-93pts Vinous

The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot 1er Cru (Marquis de Laguiche) has a wonderful, vivacious bouquet of citrus fruit infused with yellow flowers and grilled walnut, actually quite Meursault-like in style. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, touches of walnut and lemon peel, well-integrated oak and real precision and mineralité toward the finish. Excellent. (NM)
