El Nido is a great red wine made by Bodegas el Nido from D.O. Jumilla.
Bodegas el Nido belongs to the Gil Family Estates group, a group that also owns Juan Gil, Atalaya, Ateca and Shaya wineries among others.
El Nido is a coupage of Cabernet Sauvignon (70%) and Monastrell (30%) varieties. The grapes are grown in a small, 12 hectare Cabernet Sauvignon vineyard and 32 hectares of Monastrell vineyards. Very old vineyards that have a very low yield but have a great grape quality.
This powerful wine has extrodinary complexity, incredible elegance, great structure, and perfectly balanced acid and tannins. The silky palate feature intense flavors of blackberry, black currant, vanilla, oak, leather, blueberry, plum, chocolate with spice nuances. This wine needs to accompany robust foods like roasted leg of lamp or venison. We recommend that you decant at least 2 hours before you drink it.
