Even with the explosion of Pinot Noir microclimates over the last two decades, the Anderson Valley AVA remains to be one of my favorite areas when I search for this grape variety. The 2017 FEL is an excellent example. This wine is pert, bright, and zesty. Its aromas of black fruit, anise, and mineral should pair it well with a lightly-seasoned, pan-seared wild salmon fillet. An attractive and polished, red-fruit style with good purity of sweet cherries and a base of grainy tannin, building nicely on the finish. Drink now.
Richly aromatic, the nose on this wine is loaded with notes of black cherry, boysenberry, and pomegranate. Subtle hints of dark chocolate, orange peel, and sage add depth and complexity. The palate is lively with fresh acidity which carries delicious flavors of strawberry, plum, toast, and caraway. Fine-grained tannins provide a silky structure to the wine and a lengthy finish of succulent fruit flavor
