It’s hard to imagine how a dry white wine could have a more exciting balance than the 2017 Hermannsberg GG.
In spite of the deep white fruits character, considerable power and minty freshness that makes the super-long finish so uplifting the wine is extremely finely nuanced. Although this masterpiece from our monopole Hermannsberg site has enough tannins and acidity to give it a very long life, this structure is almost completely below the limit of direct perception, so that the overall impression is one of seamless harmony. Comparatively
open now for one of our greatest dry wines at only two years of age, this GG will benefit from decanting or generous aeration before serving. 

We own the entire 5.23 hectares of the Hermannsberg site which was established in 1902 where previously there had been only rocks and scrub (1907 was the first vintage). It is our only site with a clay-slate soil and that gives the wines a more filigree personality from our six other VDP Grosse Lage / ”Grand Cru” sites. This GG is the ultimate expression of all that.
