The only 2016 I was able to taste, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Georges III comes from a tiny 1.9-acre parcel in this valley floor site and spent 23 months in 75% new French oak. Deep purple-colored, with notes of crème de cassis, dried smoke tobacco, lead pencil, and toasted spices, this fabulous Cabernet hits the palate with full-bodied richness and depth, sweet tannins, a seamless texture, and a great, great finish. It can be drunk today or cellared for two decades or more.
This is our inaugural vintage release of our new long-term acreage (with yield/farming control) contract. Enough already, the wine reveals heaps of blackcurrants, mulberries, preserved plums, dark blue and black fruit with touches of underbrush, truffles, mossy bark and bay leaves. Very earthy/mineral in the fullbodied mouth, it offers firm, ripe and grainy tannins, with great freshness, finishing long, refined and minerally.
Straight A-cut, 100% free-run, pure Cabernet Sauvignon that would impress Bacchus himself.
