The 2016 Louis Latour Santenay is an excellent example of a red Burgundy you can open and enjoy upon its arrival in the marketplace. This wine is fresh and open-knit. Its aromas and flavors of fresh and vivid red fruits and perky minerality should pair it well with grilled lamb chops. (Tasted: July 2, 2019, San Rafael, CA)
With a beautiful ruby red color our Santenay Rouge 2016 offers a gourmet nose of strawberry, blackcurrant, violet and candied fruit. The palate is round and fruity. Fresh notes of cherry and undergrowth. A delicious wine with supple tannins.
Pairs well with rabbit terrine - beef in wine sauce - foie gras with apples - brie cheese
Santenay is the most southerly village in the Côte de Beaune and produces both red and white wines. The red wines from Santenay are reputed to be tannic and well-structured. They say of Santenay that the wines have the soul of Volnay and the body of Pommard.
