Moving to the 2016s, the not yet bottled 2016 M Proprietary Red Wine includes slightly more Cabernet Sauvignon than the 2015 and is a final blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon and 21% Cabernet Franc. It’s another full-bodied, silky, and polished red from this team and offers textbook Napa Valley Cabernet notes of crème de cassis, graphite, crushed rocks, and chocolate. It has building tannins, beautiful ripeness, and is going to keep for 20+ years.

A blend of Bordeaux varieties, the 2016 M by Marciano displays a medium to deep garnet-purple color. It is a little youthfully subdued to begin, opening with delicate notions of fresh mulberries, black cherries and warm blackcurrants with hints of raspberry leaves, forest floor, violets and black tea plus touches of cedar chest and charcoal. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has fantastic energy, with layers of black fruits and earthy sparks supported by lovely freshness and a solid grainy texture, finishing long with an herbal lift.
The 2016 M Proprietary Red Wine boasts aromas of black currant, violet, and mocha. Cabernet Sauvignon adds focus, depth, and concentration to the mid-palate alongside layers of dark cherry fruit and baking spices. This vintage produced exceptional Cabernet Franc that endows our blend with its expressive, captivating fragrance and refined texture, resulting in a seamless wine that beautifully showcases the character and complexity of our estate vineyard.
This wine is a rich and layered Bordeaux-style blend that balances the density and power of our estate vineyard’s Cabernet Sauvignon with the silky texture and perfumed aromatics of our best blocks of Cabernet Franc. Lush flavors and supple structure make this wine generous in its youth, while allowing it to age gracefully for many years to come.
