The 2014 Cotes du Roussillon Villages is a terrific 2014 that makes the most of the vintage. Checking in as a blend of 60% Syrah and 40% Grenache that was raised all in concrete tanks, it offers loads of underbrush and sous bois to go with ripe black raspberry and plum-like fruit, pepper and violets. Full-bodied, elegant and perfectly balanced, this beautiful Roussillon will have 10-12 years or more of overall longevity. This collaboration between Michel Chapoutier and Jasper Hill owner/vintner Ron Laughton of Victoria, Australia, produce a single Côtes du Roussillon Villages cuvée that's based largely on Syrah, with a solid dose of Grenache. Completely destemmed and aged all in concrete tank, this is a fabulous, naked expression of the terroir in the Agly Valley. (JD)    (4/2015)
