(94 - 96)RP Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
A barrel sample of the 2015 Mekerra Proprietary Red, which should be a relatively similar blend, seems to showcase the cocoa, white chocolate and black cherry notes of Merlot at this stage of its evolution. It is opulent, dense and pure, with a fresh energy from good acidity. It is full-bodied and not dissimilar from the 2014, but it seems to have an extra level of dimension and vibrancy to it. This wine will be fascinating to follow, but it is clearly a top effort.
2015 was a very warm year which resulted in wines rich in concentration and this wine from our high elevation vineyard is no exception. The aromatics are so expressive and enticing showing a typicity of Cabernet franc, dry herbs and undertones of ripe compote which give this nose a wow factor. There is a loamy, muscular tension to the wine that
segues into its energy in the mouthfeel resulting in a wine that exudes balance and
age-worthiness - a must add to the cellar.
