Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate
A barrel sample from a vineyard right next to Spottswoode, composed of Cabernet Sauvignon with dashes of Petit Verdot and Merlot, the 2016 Metisse Jumping Goat Vineyard hits the dance floor with exuberant blackberry preserves, blueberry pie and crème de cassis notes supported by hints of chocolate box, star anise, Sichuan pepper and cinnamon stick, plus a waft of tilled soil. Full-bodied and drop-dead sexy in the mouth, it has beautifully ripe, velvety tannins texturing the seductive fruit, finishing with lingering exotic spice notes. A real head-turner!
Our well-known Jumping Goat vineyard located in the AVA of St. Helena was harvested later in 2016 than the previous year. A beautiful growing season yielded spectacular quality. The wine aromatically boasts lush, bright raspberry fruit along with cloves, crushed rock and its signature perfumed characters. Superbly creamy and layered, there is amazing freshness and tension to the wine and it is simultaneously very seductive and strong. Multi-dimensional with incredible density in the mid-palate of dark fruits yet finishes with sublime red fruits.
Blend: 87% CABERNET SAUVIGNON, 11% PETIT VERDOT, 2% MERLOT
