Made from Nerello Mascalese grapes; vine age – planted 2004, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015; grown on soils of black volcanic, tan volcanic and clay. Fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. Aged in oak Barrels from Slovenia and in the bottle. Aged for 8 months in the oak barrels and 4 months in the bottle.
This opens with lovely aromas of ripe woodland berry, baking spice, crushed blue flower and a balsamic note. The juicy palate offers ripe dark cherry, crushed raspberry, licorice and white pepper alongside firm tannins and fresh acidity. The mineral driven finish closes on an anise note.
