Very spicy, sporting caramel, cinnamon and tarry flavors, sweet and silky on the long finish.

The Penfolds Club Tawny is a delicious fortified wine. The wine shows aromas and flavors reminiscent of Portos from Portugal. One may not even recognize the difference and could be surprised that this wine is a New World effort. The wine's cream, pruney, and rancio character—rancio is a recognized flavor descriptor that is often found in many Sherries—adds additional nuances that make the wine stand out. Drinks well now, and would be perfect with chocolate mousse or mild cigar. (Tasted: October 31, 2016, San Francisco, CA USA)
Australia's most popular fortified wine is a tawny noted for it's mellowness and consistency. A blend of vintages oak matured at Penfolds' Kalimna cellars, in the Barrossa Valley.
The palate is rich and vibrant displaying ripe spicy fruit, toffee and walnuts framed by smokey oak with a lifted cleansing finish.
