93pts Wine Spectator
A combination of spicy cherry, iron, tobacco and tar aromas and flavors are woven into the dense tannins in this sinewy red. There's an essence of ripe fruit, yet this requires time to reconcile its gripping structure. Best from 2024 through 2043.
The 2015 Barbaresco Albesani is gracious, floral and lifted, which is not common in Albesani, where the wines tend to be more powerful. Bright acids and lively tannins give the 2015 its shape and energy. This translucent, inviting Barbaresco has so much to offer.
Albesani leaves nothing to be desired, in expression and character it is simply grandiose. The fresh bouquet of flowers, chalk, tobacco and cherries finds its continuation on the palate, where a beguiling silky tannin and an aromatic intensity virtually steals the senses. A masterpiece from Luca Roagna!
