Juicy and focused, featuring red and black currant fruit, entwined with licorice, bramble and sweet tobacco notes. Subtle singed juniper and sassafras details chime through the background. Best from 2021 through 2032.

While I have always found the Rombauer Vineyards Diamond Selection Cabernet Sauvignon formidable, I have generally found its tannins a bit hard to navigate. The 2016 vintage shows a fine resolution of tannins. Its well-built aromas and flavors of black fruits, cassis, and oak should pair it famously with the first cut of a prime rib roast. This has a very fresh array of vibrant, ripe-fruit aromas with a sense of sleek and plush tannin and a silky textural feel. A vibrant, elegant and plush array of fine, smooth tannins deliver intense and focused, dark-berry flavors at the finish. Drink or hold.
