Wine Spectator

Ripe and direct, with friendly warmed plum and açaí berry reduction flavors, carried by dark licorice notes through a polished, flattering finish. Drink now through 2021. 1,229 cases made.

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Deux Chevaux Vineyard is super-ripe and racy, with copious blackberry jam, toasty oak, chocolate, mint, spice and new leather all pushed forward. The sweet, unctuous style appears best suited to near and medium-term drinking.

Winemaker Notes

A 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Tamber Bey's Deux Chevaux Vineyard in Yountville. Estate-grown and bottled. One of Tamber Bey's three original wines, it continues to be our calling card for Cabernet Sauvignon.

Vibrant garnet color to the rim. Aromas of vanilla, pecan, plum and red berry intermingle with hints of tobacco, black tea and leather. Primary flavors are bold and rich. Notes of blackberry, lush plum and red-brick minerality give way to just a hint of cranberry, orange and confectionary flavors. Medium, dusty tannins accompanied by nice acidity give way to a long and pleasant finish. Allow this wine to age and the secondary flavors of dark fruit, blackberry and currant will express themselves during cellar time.
