The 2016 Bolgheri Tenuta Meraviglia is a rich and darkly saturated wine with creamy dark fruit that feels soft and velvety from the first sip. This is a decadent red wine from Bolgheri with black fruit aromas of plum and black currant followed by spice, tobacco and campfire ash. I love the succulence and the generosity of this sunshine-driven wine. The blend is 70% Cabernet Franc and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. Some 26,000 bottles were released. This estate is part of the Alejandro Bulgheroni Family Vineyards. Monica Larner
Made mainly from Cabernet Franc, Maestro di Cava is a full-bodied Bolgheri Superiore.
This wine requires two years to be released to market, one of which is spent in oak barrels. The result is worth the wait. Elegant and direct aromas with nuances of ripe black fruits, especially blackberries and cherries, and delicate hints of vanilla. Intense and full-bodied on the taste buds with fine, mature tannins and an enduring finish. This is a wine ennobled by time. The perfect accompaniment to stews, roasted and game, mature and blue cheeses, as well as meat- and cheese-filled pasta.
