Marco de Grazia discovered the tiny vineyard and its little house while planting in San Lorenzo, purchasing the parcel in 2018 and producing the first vintage in 2019. The Sicilian word "dagala" describes an island of land surrounded by lava. This has a darker and more emphatically volcanic character, combining the unrelenting rigor of Calderara with the richness of San Lorenzo. Austere and tight, it recalls a dark lava-stone wall. The wine plays on depth, tension and volcanic power, holding firm without letting go.

98pts James Suckling

Expressive aromas of plums, cherries, smoke, dark chocolate and sandalwood follow through to a full body with a tight, dense center palate and plenty of juicy fruit in the finish. Lots of concentration but not heavy or coarse. Classy and intense. This lights up the palate with bright acidity and a cool-toned feel, coming across as energetic and spry as soft-textured depths of wild berry fruit cascade throughout. The 2024 reverberates with zesty tension, structured and long. This is a thrilling, drop-dead-gorgeous Etna Rosso.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2424/3053/files/terre-nere-etna-rosso-dagala-di-bocca-dorzo-monopole-2022-750ml-710353.jpg?v=1740761962
https://redneckwinecompany.com/products/terre-nere-etna-rosso-dagala-di-bocca-d-orzo-monopole-2024-750ml
