94pts Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2011 Gewurztraminer Cuvée des Seigneurs Ribeaupierre is deep and smoky on the nose, rich, concentrated, ripe and exciting, with lots of citrus flavors. Full-bodied, rich, intense and tension-filled on the palate, this is a complex and mineral Gewurz that is a fresh, precise, salty, fresh and lovely tannic wine with a long and complex finish. A great Gewurz, indeed.
The predominantly “Keuper” marl-limestone soils on which it is produced give this rare wine an ample and powerful style. Made from old vines from the former wine estate of the Lords of Ribeaupierre, the grapes are selected and harvested at high maturity. It is a wine with aromas of flowers and spices with a dry character, but so rich and so fruity that it seems to touch the sweetness… which is only illusory. This great wine with very good aging potential is only produced in the best years.
Pairings: Foie gras, spicy and aromatic cuisine, desserts made with fresh fruit, etc.
