Carpineto Chianti Classico Riserva 2019 - 750ml
Carpineto Chianti Classico Riserva 2019 - 750ml
92pts Wine Spectator
This red starts out supple, revealing cherry, blackberry, violet and spice flavors. There's a line of dusty tannins underneath, yet this is balanced and long in the end. Best from 2025 through 2039. 16,600 cases made, 5,000 cases imported.
91pts Wine Enthusiast
The stony, metallic nose is all graphite, pencil shavings, pennies and topsoil with subtle fruit aromas of cherry skin and orange peel scorched quickly to release its essential oil. Juicier cherries on the palate are still traced by graphite and crushed soil, held together with tightly wound tannins.
91pts Jeb Dunnuck
A much darker crimson color, the 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva is more forward with its oak profile at this youthful stage, with notes of toasted cedar, black licorice, black cherry, and woodsy forest herbs. Full-bodied, this profile continues to the palate with ripe tannins and good underlying freshness, its oak still hovering a bit on the finish as well. I imagine the oak will integrate to a certain extent, and the wine is likely to show its best in another couple of years. Drink 2025-2037.
90pts James Suckling
Dark cherries, baked cherries, cloves, herbs and cedar on the nose. It’s medium- to full-bodied with solid tannins. Quite firm still with a fruity frame and a chewy finish. Best after 2024.
Vinous
The 2019 Chianti Classico Riserva offers up dark fruit, mocha, leather, licorice and spice, all in a hearty, full-bodied style. Rustic, potent contours wrap it all together.
Winemaker Notes
Intense ruby red with garnet reflections. An elegant, full and harmonious bouquet persistent with suggestions of vanilla and raspberry. Long and velvety, full, generous, and warm on the palate.
Perfect with roasts and game.
About the Winery
Carpineto is a partnership between the award winning winemaker Giovanni C. Sacchet and the dynamic Antonio M. Zaccheo, offering a product line of wines spanning from the most prestigious Tuscan DOCG appellations to varietal specific wines of great structure as well as innovative proprietary blends. The winery is widely regarded as one of the quality leaders on the Italian winemaking landscape, exporting the majority of the wine production to over 30 countries worldwide. About 90% of Carpineto's wine production is red wine, 65% of this being "riserva" wines that are aged three or more years before their release date. Since Carpineto generally ages their red wines six to twelve months longer than the minimum time required by DOCG appellation rules the cellars hold at least three consecutive vintages of wine at any given time. This long aging period has allowed Carpineto to build a reputation for high quality and consistency, vintage after vintage.
