96pts James Suckling
Expansive and subtle nose of stone fruit with a touch of candied citrus underlined by leesy complexity. Rich and creamy, but also very fresh on the full-bodied palate. Then comes a terrific creamy and salty finish that lingers very long. Drink or hold.
93Jeb Dunnuck
Bright apple, citrus, and minty herb notes all emerge from the 2023 Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc, a rocking little white that has medium-bodied richness, a juicy, lively mouthfeel, and an undeniable sense of salty minerality on the finish. Based on 55% Grenache Blanc, 20% Clairette, 15% Roussanne, and 10% Picpoul Blanc.
92pts Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Evoking fresh and delicate aromas of ripe orchard fruits, white fruits, spices and spring blossoms, the 2023 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc is medium to full-bodied, juicy and mouth coating, with a velvety attack, a satiny mid-palate and a long, fresh, saline finish. This blend of 55% Grenache Blanc, 20% Clairette, 15% Roussanne and 10% Picpoul Blanc, matured entirely in stainless steel, is a real success.
91pts Vinous
The 2023 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc initiates with fragrant honeysuckle, ripe pear, lemon flesh and yellow apple. Vinified in stainless steel tanks, this medium-bodied, round, refreshing and energetic 2023 ends with an uplifting finish.
Tasting Notes
The white Châteauneuf-du-Pape is attractive when young within two or three years following the harvest, if you are looking for the wines to be fragrant, fruity and elegant. Lovers of more mature white wines should wait another five years or more until our wines develop their secondary aromas: honey, white truffle and reminiscent of acacia.
About the Winery
Mont-Redon has been the location of our vineyard since Antiquity. The topography of the “round mountain” located at the foot of the estate inspired the Romans who called it “Montem Rotundum”, translated today as Mont Redon. In the year 1344, the vineyard belonged to the Pontifical Domain. The Mont-Redon terroir was then cultivated by the papal court for the production of its wines. In the 18th century, this land became the property of the Astier-Mathieu family, whose Anselme Mathieu, famous Provençal Félibre, who called himself Marquis de Mont-Redon, exploited the estate until the end of the 19th century. After the phylloxera crisis, when everything had to be rebuilt and recreated, Henri Plantin decided in 1923 to buy the estate which then only comprised 2.5ha of vines. Château Mont-Redon, owned by the Plantin family, Heirs Abeille-Fabre, is currently managed by the 4th generation.
