92pts Wine Spectator
Robust and concentrated, with rich cherry cola and sarsaparilla details to the core of concentrated wild blackberry and blueberry flavors. Reveals thick tannins that provide a lush background, while details of spices and black tea linger on the long, expressive finish. Drink now through 2028. 1,500 cases made.
91pts Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
This 2019 Shiraz from Greenock Creek is a dark, brooding, concentrated, savory Shiraz, punctuated by notes of resin, molasses, licorice, aniseed, dark chocolate and black tea. There is plenty to grip to here: oak, tannin, fruit... This is a big wine and one that has built a big name. This is best drunk within the decade—to capture some of the fruit while it is lively, I should think.
James Suckling
Dense cooked blackberry, plum cake and demerara sugar aromas are wrapped around the full, slightly inky tannins. Plenty of sweet fruit at the finish, but also warmth from alcohol (15.5%). Less might have been more. Drink now. Screw cap.
Tasting Notes
The wine shows deep red and purple colors in the glass and fragrant notes of dark berries and warm spices on the nose. The palate offers up an abundance of rich flavor, framed by silky tannins and a long, lingering finish.
