Madame de Beaucaillou Haut-Medoc 2022 - 750ml
93pts James Suckling
Very intense with impressive blackberry and currant aromas and flavors. Medium to full body. Excellent concentration. Bright fruit. 66% merlot, 23% cabernet sauvignon and 11% petit verdot.
93pts Wine Enthusiast
92-94 Barrel sample. A blend of a number of Haut-Médoc estates owned by the Borie family, the wine is spicy, ripe with firm tannins wrapped inside a comfortable richness. At this stage, the wood is showing of course, but so is the ripe black fruit.
92pts Jeb Dunnuck
The 2022 Madame De Beaucaillou should be outstanding, as well as a smoking value in terrific Bordeaux. Based largely on Merlot, it has medium to full-bodied richness, beautiful darker cassis and blue fruits, some obvious minerality, building tannins, and outstanding length on the finish. It will drink nicely in its youth yet also have at least a decade of longevity.
92pts Vinous
The 2022 Madame de Beaucaillou is a very typical wine for the year. Plump, juicy and forward, the 2022 is charming right out of the gate. Succulent red cherry fruit, spice, rose petal and lavender notes are front and center. Plush, silky tannins wrap it all together. Bruno Borie's Haut-Médoc is flat-out delicious.
91pts Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2022 Madame de Beaucaillou offers up aromas of dark berries, plums and pencil shavings, followed by a medium to full-bodied, deep and fleshy palate that's quite rich and concentrated, with a juicy core of fruit framed by youthfully chewy tannins. It's a blend of 66% Merlot, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon and 11% Petit Verdot.
Winemaker's Notes
A wonderfully expressive nose offering a mix of ripe cherries and plums, with hints
of irises and woodsmoke. The flavours are rich with good mid palate density, the
tannins are perfectly ripe with a fine powdery texture, and there is a vibrant freshness
that brings focus to the flavours. The finish is fresh, fruity, and persistent with a hint
of spice on the aftertaste. A well-constructed gastronomic wine.
Blend: 66% Merlot Noir, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Petit Verdot
About the Wine
A tribute to Madame Eugène Borie.
Madame de Beaucaillou is an invitation but also an introduction to the Borie signature, to the philosophy of the house.
Winery Notes
Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou is named after the beautiful, large stones found in its unique wine-growing terroir. This exceptional ecosystem produces fine, elegant, tasty wines with a long finish - in short, archetypical Saint-Julien wines.
Perched on an exceptional site with incomparable views over the Gironde estuary, in the center of a hundred-year-old park, Ducru-Beaucaillou is a majestic, Victorian-style castle, which has, over time, become one of the great symbols of the Médoc. Unusual for Bordeaux, it is built directly above the barrel cellars, enveloping its owners, who have lived here for over sixty years.
Today, the estate is managed by the company Jean Eugène Borie SA, which is owned by Mrs Borie, her daughter Sabine Coiffe and her son Bruno-Eugène, CEO since 2003, the third generation of the Borie family to head the estate. There are very close links between this estate and the five families who have been its successive owners.
