99pts Owen Bargreen

A stunning new bottling that is showing beautifully even so young. Right now the wine is unbelievably good, with a brilliant combination of weight, texture and bright underlying acidity. A fantastic melange of black and blue fruits greet you on the palate, with chocolate, creosote and espresso ground accents. Give this plenty of air before consuming, as this beauty is already signing its high octane. Drink 2023-2033.

97pts Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Firm, fresh and ripe, the 2020 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon opens to a complex nose of dusty oak and dark berry essences as it shows power and finesse. Full-bodied, the palate is mineral-driven, with rich and expressive ripe blackberries and an absolutely gorgeous and succulent mouthfeel that uncoils and unwinds across the ever-evolving finish with a delightfully tannic edge. The wine rested for 22 months in 85% new French oak. Bravo! What a stunner! Only 3,000 bottles were made.

97pts Jeb Dunnuck

Unquestionably up with the top wines in the vintage, the 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Red Mountain Estate reveals a dense purple hue to go with a full-bodied, concentrated, nicely structured style offering ample cassis and assorted blue-tinged fruits, some classic Red Mountain minerality and scorched earth nuances, beautiful overall balance, integrated oak, and a pure, lengthy style that's going to evolve for 15-20 years in cold cellars. There's enough structure here to warrant a solid 2-4 years in the cellar.

Winemaker Notes

Force Majeure's estate Cabernet Sauvignon is a powerful but elegant, full-bodied wine that is grown primarily along the southwest ridge of the winery's vineyard, in soils that are deep and loamy but contain many small rocks of fractured basalt, concreted ash and even some granite from Missoula flood erratics. The vines produce small berries with bountiful flavor, concentration and intensity, but also a good degree of finesse, excellent structure and layers of complexity that will continue to develop during extended bottle aging for those who want to cellar and age their wines.
