97pts CWA
This brand new release from TOR is the first 2021 Napa Cabernet we’ve judged and this classy Cabernet has set the bar high! It tastes supremely serious with its tightly wound dark fruit flavors, hints of caramel, spice box, and tobacco leaf, and superb balance. Its ever-so-present tannins are ripe and structured and give way to a long, mouthwatering finish. Decant for at least 20 minutes now through 2025 and enjoy through 2030.
96pts Int'l Wine Review
The 2012 Napa Valley Cabernet is an absolutely tremendous showing from Tor Kenward, sourced from Mast Vineyard (Yountville), Melanson (Pritchard Hill), Tierra Roja (Oakville) and To Kalon (Oakville). It instantly releases seductive aromas of ripe dark cherries and black currants followed by spring flowers, baking spices and lovely hints of mocha and sweet toasted oak. On the palate this is full-bodied, layered and voluptuous, backed by soft, round tannins, which make for a seamless transition into the long, plush finish. Although this should have no problem cellaring for many years to come, it absolutely delicious today and is just about impossible to resist.

A very firm and polished red with currants, chocolate and salted almonds. Terra-cotta. Medium body. Juicy and flavorful with extremely polished tannins. Very creamy textured. Give it two or three years to come around.

Checking in as 92% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Petit Verdot, all from Oakville, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville sports a dense purple hue to go with straight-up textbook Oakville notes of darker fruits, iron, black olives, and tobacco, with just a kiss of background spring flowers. It's medium to full-bodied, round, textured, beautifully balanced, and has tons of classic varietal character.

Bottled just one week before I tasted it, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville was showing rather well, with gentle floral and sage nuances set against a backdrop of rich loam and black cherries. Yes, it's still a bit tight, but this medium to full-bodied effort boasts silky tannins and a long finish. Don't overlook it because it isn't vineyard-designated.

The 2021 TOR Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon delivers nicely on the palate. TASTING NOTES: This wine shows aromas and flavors of slightly rustic notes, bright fruits, and savory spices. Enjoy it with an anise-flavored beef stew.
Winemaker Notes
Our TOR Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon hails from three exceptional vineyards in the Oakville appellation - Tench Vineyard, Double H Ranch Vineyard, and Renteria 360 Vineyard. With famous neighbors such as Screaming Eagle, Tench is in eastern Oakville where the Vaca Range and valley floor converge to form the Eastern Oakville Bench. Its signature rocky and nutrient deficient soils promote optimal vine stress producing exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon. Double H Ranch Vineyard is a small hillside vineyard on the western slopes of the Vaca Range directly below Dalle Valle. The iron rich site gives our 2021 Oakville its signature dark fruit and perfumed characteristics. Renteria 360 Vineyard is in the northeastern part of Oakville and has a long history of producing excellent Cabernet Sauvignons.
Tasting Notes
Our Oakville Cabernet is a perfect example of why Oakville is the premiere appellation for Cabernet in the Napa Valley. This wine checks all the boxes, with a savory, umami element, a touch of mushroom and a hint of eucalyptus. The fruit is plentiful, with blackberry, chocolate covered cherry, blueberry pie and a graphite minerality. Baking spices of cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg add an extra touch of complexity. A true champion of this vintage.
