Lastly, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon The Twin is another seriously good wine from this terrific label. As with all of Russell's wines, it's full-bodied and powerful, with terrific purity in its cassis and blackberry-like fruit as well as graphite, dark chocolate, and spring flower notes, with nicely integrated background oak. It plays in the fresher, focused, yet concentrated style of the vintage and has enough structure to warrant 4 to 5 years of bottle age.
95pts Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
A blend of 45% Cabernet Franc (from Sugarloaf Vineyard in southern Napa) and 45% Merlot (from Sage Ridge Vineyard), with just 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, Adversity's 2021 The Twin Proprietary Red Wine boasts almost floral, licorice-tinged shadings set against a backdrop of blueberries and black cherries. It's full-bodied, not overwhelmingly rich, dense, dark and chocolaty, finishing long, with just a touch of alcoholic warmth.
Winemaker Notes
This incredible wine was crafted in honor of Heidi Bevan's beloved twin Heather. Both the wine and Heather are the life of any party. The flavors are a combination of intensity and seduction period. At first sip, you'll notice the rich taste of plum, cherry, and raspberry, but as you continue to drink, you'll experience a bittersweet chocolate flavor that adds a weighty depth to the wine. The taste is complex and intense, transitioning from dark fruit to mocha and coffee. The wine starts off gentle on the palate but quickly becomes bold and powerful. It has a high concentration and impressive weight, with tannins allowing it to age gracefully for decades. These tannins are already starting to soften and become more supple, making the wine more lively and present in the glass.
