This fantastic Mountain grown Cabernet Sauvignon from Sage Ridge opens to stunning aromas of ripe blackberries, crème de cassis, violets, graphite, exotic spices and hints of fresh sage that all burst from the glass. On the palate this possesses a gorgeous full body with beautifully polished tannins and outstanding overall balance. Structured and concentrated with layers of ripe dark and blue fruits that are framed by a lovely touch of underlying acidity providing wonderful lift and a sense of freshness as it heads into the the long, polished finish. Overall, this is an absolutely sensational wine that beautifully captures the wonderful mountain characteristics. The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Sage Ridge is another inky hued wine from Bevan and offers lots of ultra-ripe black cherries, blackberries, wildflowers, chocolate, and a kiss of iron. With full-bodied richness, a dense, layered mid-palate, and lots of tannins, it nevertheless has beautiful purity and a seamless texture. Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, from a steep, terraced vineyard (Kuleto), it's another terrific wine in the lineup.

Tasting Notes

Dark purple hue. There is an abundance of herbal notes on the nose, primarily sage, bay, and earl grey tea. The fruit is pristine—fresh blueberries and cassis on the palate with sandalwood and chocolate accents. There are seemingly endless layers of flavor as the wine opens. After time in the glass, cedar and vanilla become more present, giving the wine a polished and refined character. The body is full, with graceful tannins and impressive lift on the finish. Russell Bevan's passion for wine dates back to his days in highschool. Everything he has done in life up to this point in time has pushed him to become the winemaker he is today. To date, he has crafted double digit hundred point wines but is excited to embrace the challenge of crafting wines from these dynamic sites that force the vines to deal with so much Adversity.
