Tasting Notes 

2023 was nearly a perfect growing season resulting in wines of incredible balance. Pure red and black fruits intertwined with mineral, garrigue, and spice notes. Fresh acidity gives the wine extra tension. Seamless French oak integration delivers lively texture with lengthy finish. Only 24 barrels produced.

Winery Notes

We sited B. Wise Vineyards on top of a ridge that looks down over the Sonoma Valley. While this was partly a vineyard decision, it’s also our home. This is a benevolent climate, a place you can live outdoors. I put in peach trees and persimmons, and avocados that everyone says won’t fruit this far north, but I’ve got fruit on them. It comes from being a farmer’s son and grandson. It’s through this bent of farming that we’re able to make wines that satisfy something deep down.

In 2002, we began working with Massimo Monticelli, who came to us from Silver Oak, as the winemaker for the B. Wise Estate. Mark Herold brings us depth in our Napa Cabernet Sauvignon portfolio from his pioneering oenology work for Joseph Phelps and his own successful Merus Cabernet.

Rounding out our Pinot Noir portfolio, we include an offering from the classic region for that grape, the Willamette Valley in Oregon. Drew Voit, former winemaker for Shea Vineyards in Oregon, has joined us to work with Massimo on our Pinot Noirs.
