94pts Vinous
Deep ruby-red. Raspberry, superripe red cherry and red plum on the intensely fruity nose. Dense and supple, but with plenty of acidity to provide shape to the red and dark fruit and licorice flavors. Finishes very clean, with broad tannins and excellent persistence. This superb entry-level wine is quite serious.
93pts James Suckling
This is a subtle and fruity red with walnut and chocolate undertones. Medium body, firm tannins and a bright finish. Drink or hold.
Winemaker Notes
Castello del Terriccio Toscana Rosso IGT is a red wine produced by the Castello del Terriccio company. The style with which this wine is made makes it particularly interesting. It is obtained from a blend of: 50% Syrah, 25% Petit Verdot and the remaining 25% from an original mix of native red berried grapes. All the grapes are rigorously vinified separately, after being carefully selected and harvested by hand. Following fermentation at a controlled temperature, the wine is aged for a year and a half in Allier barriques. The debut of this important and structured red wine was a great event and a great success for the company, which has been producing it for less than twenty years. Despite its recent introduction, Castello del Terriccio Toscana Rosso IGT has captured the attention of international critics, who consider it a product of excellence (given the high scores achieved in the various contests), perfect for connoisseurs and true enthusiasts. Ideal if left to age for at least five years, this wine is intense, very soft, structured, but also fragrant and intriguing, with truly particular spicy and toasted notes; it also has a long persistence. It perfectly accompanies important moments or dinners.
