95pts Jeb Dunnuck
Lots of pure cassis, tobacco leaf, lead pencil shavings, chocolate, and spring flowers emerge from the 2019 Château Ripeau, a ripe, seamless, incredibly sexy 2019 that has great tannins, plenty of mid-palate depth, and a seriously impressive finish. This estate has been on a roll over the past 6-7 years, and the 2019 is no exception, and if anything, it might be the finest vintage to date. It has the purity, balance, and texture to shine even today and is going to continue drinking brilliantly for another two decades. Best After 2022
92pts Decanter
An estate that has been on the rise for the past few years. This is less exuberant, more knitted down that their 2018 but it remains an excellent choice in the vintage. It has dark chocolate and tight berry fruits, and a tight tannic wall that guards the structure. Heavy bottle, seems a little at odds with their green agenda.

91pts Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2019 Ripeau has an ambitious nose of cedar and clove oil over a core of baked plums, stewed black cherries, dried mulberries and fruitcake with touches of mocha and sautéed herbs. Medium to full-bodied, the palate has a solid, chewy frame and just enough freshness to support the baked berries flavors, finishing a tad firm.
Winemaker Notes
Deep, dark, rich and intense, with a luscious quality to its texture. Opulent, fresh, long and deep, the wine offers a multi-layered expression of black plums, dark cherry, licorice, chocolate fudge, and espresso beans from start to finish. The new owners continue investing in the vineyard and cellars with the desire to make the best wine possible. This is a property to watch. Drink from 2023-2039
The Barrel Sample for this wine is above 14% ABV.
