The 2022 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast is laced with crushed flowers, sweet, red-toned fruit, white pepper, herbs and orange peel. Aromatic and medium in body, the Sonoma Coast Pinot offers quite a bit of floral and savory character to play off its mid-weight personality.

Winemaker Notes

Kistlers’ goal in crafting their Pinot Noirs is to capture the elusive Pinot character expressed in each of our exceptional coastal sites. They strive to produce elegant, harmonious wines which are impressive for their purity, balance, and lingering perfume. From these sites there is a progression of color and length of character as we move towards the coast.

The Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir is a combination of Kistler’s single vineyards, the exact proportions of which are an elusive bit of information to find, but we do know the proportions come from the four coastal vineyards: Laguna Ridge (formerly known as Kistler Vineyard), Silver Belt (bottled individually as Cuvée Natalie), Occidental Station (bottled individually as Cuvée Catherine), and Bodega Headlands (and potentially some fruit from Running Fence). Just like its big brothers, the Sonoma Coast designate is fermented in small open top fermenters and the free run juice is barrel aged and remains in barrel for fourteen to eighteen months until bottling.

A very fragrant wine with notes of cherry, cedar, cigar box, and tea gently emanating from the glass. On the palate, the wine has soft tannins and a solid, long finish.

Tasting Notes

An elegant, harmonious wine that is well balance with lingering perfume. This Pinot Noir has a  balanced concentration, holding an impressive, precise energy throughout its deep red and blue berry fruited core, subtle mineral undertones and lifted delicate varietal aromatics.
