95pts Jeb Dunnuck

The 2018 Brunello Di Montalcino is gorgeous and distinctive in its style, with a smoky perfume of incense, rose petal, tarragon, and vibrant red cherry or red raspberry. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, with refined tannins, fresh acidity, and a saline, stony mouthfeel. A lovely wine just full of graceful elegance and polish, its notes of cedar, orange zest, and fresh soil all come together seamlessly. This is an absolutely gorgeous wine for readers seeking a Burgundian aesthetic. Drink 2025-2040.

95pts Wine Enthusiast

The nose is a well-stocked kitchen, with coffee always ready, a decadent spice drawer and expensive balsamic, and the aromas of cherries and soil wafting in from the garden. On the palate, notes of vanilla and candied orange underscore the cherries' juicy sweetness, while the savory notes linger as undertones, before lithe tannins and hot acid usher in a long finish.

92pts James Suckling

Savory cinnamon spices, cooked oranges and berries follow through to a medium- to full-bodied palate with some firm, lightly grainy tannins. Juicy and savory finish. Better in a year or two.

92pts Wine Spectator

A lacy red, showing aromas and flavors of sweet red berry fruit, rose, truffle, game and mineral backed by firm yet refined tannins, with a lingering finish. Approachable now with food, but will be better in a year or two. Best from 2024 through 2039. 5,830 cases made, 2,650 cases imported.

90pts Vinous

An inviting mix of cloves, cherry sauce and violet pastille keeps me coming back to the 2018 Brunello di Montalcino again and again. It’s silky and supple on the palate, with ripe wild berry fruits contrasted by savory herbal tones and spice. Nuances of licorice linger under an air of hauntingly dark inner florals, as this finishes potent and delicately structured. Only a short stay in the cellar will be needed to allow the 2018 to fully shine.

Tasting Notes

Bright ruby-red color. Notes of ripe red and crisp fruit, orange, bitter orange, slightly balsamic sensations. Balanced and firmly structured, soft but defined tannins and good acidity, with a lingering and deep finish.

About the Wine

It consists of a blend of the estate’s vineyards and aims at a perfect balance between the various terroirs. With notes of red fruit, bitter orange and violet, it comes through fresh, silky and elegant with a lingering finish and an aftertaste reminiscent of cherry and chocolate.

Vineyard Notes

The vineyards feature different terroirs: the soils range from galestro to sand and clay, with significant variations in weather conditions linked to the Mediterranean influence of the sea or to the wide day-night temperature range due to the proximity to Monte Amiata.
