Winemaker Notes

A French-inspired, Cinsaut-based red blend. Cinsaut and Syrah co-fermented for two weeks to extract color and texture. A small amount of Grenache from Rancho Réal was blended for fragrance. Aged in neutral barrels and stainless.

Exuberantly fragrant and soft on the palate, the wine is highly evocative of red and black fruit, most specifically, black currant and black raspberry.

Blend: 64% Cinsaut, 26% Syrah, 6% Grenache, 3% Tannat, 1% Viognier

Winery Notes

The Language of Yes began in earnest in 2020 as a collaboration between Randall Grahm and Maze Row, giving the auteur winemaker his pick of Gallo’s top vineyards in the Central Coast, as well as access to the company’s significant grape and vine research.

The aim of the project is to bring an Old World sensibility to California, with lighter extractions, whole cluster fermentations, no filtration, and a focus on Rhône varieties from cooler sites. Indeed, the first wine released from The Language of Yes was a Tibouren-based rosé, a variety native to southern France and Northen Italy that is prized for its creamy texture and ageworthiness.
