92pts Wine Enthusiast - Editor's Choice
Pleasing aromas of guava, gooseberry and cotton candy grapes pick up greener hints of lime and grass on the nose of this bottling in a newer line from the Cakebread family of wines. There's a good grip and zip to the sip, where lemon lime soda and crushed granite flavors align.
90pts James Suckling
Classic sauvignon blanc with aromas of lime zest, passion fruit, lychees and cut grass. The palate is light-bodied with bright acidity and a generous texture, giving flavors of mandarins, pineapple and lemon pith. Drink now.
Wine Spectator
Plump notes of lemon curd, apricot and lime zest are crisp and refreshing, with citrus zest and pith accents, plus fresh-clipped herbs. Shows a dried mango detail on the juicy finish. Drink now. 4,000 cases made.
Vinous
The 2024 Sauvignon Blanc is spicy to the core, with a savory herbal thrust that gives way to a mix of lime and grapefruit. It is soft textured and round, with ripe citrus-infused orchard fruit propelled by zesty acidity. The finish tapers off a bit short yet fresh, leaving a subtle floral resonance.
Tasting Notes
This wine is bright and vibrant with zesty acidity. We build layers of fruit in this wine by picking at different ripeness levels: one early to bring tangy acidity and herbaceous notes, the other later to impart tropical aromatics. Fermented at low temperatures and bottled fresh with no barrel influence, it captures the aromatic essence of the vintage.
Winery Notes
Since 1973, our family has made wine in Napa Valley at Cakebread Cellars in Rutherford, California. But with Bezel, we’re breaking out of Napa to find the hidden gems of California wine country in the Central Coast.
Our winemaking mission is simple, though the resulting wines complex: Seek the best grapes from the West Coast’s finest vineyards and let that region’s personality shine through in each wine.
