95pts Wine Enthusiast
Very ripe fruit and an impression of sweetness pervade this fully ripe, rich and delicious wine from a noted site. Soft tannins and a full body embrace red and black cherries, spearmint and redwood forest nuances for an indulgent and complex expression. Best from 2027.
Tasting Notes
Savoy Vineyard’s signature aromatics of bramble berry, mint, and spice are particularly intense with the 2022 vintage. As the wine breathes, the bouquet evolves and hints of hibiscus, pomegranate, and cassis begin to appear. The lightness and texture of the wine are particularly striking as flavors of black and Bing cherry, kirsch, and Mission Fig explode in the mouth.
Vineyard Notes
Savoy Vineyard, long recognized as a benchmark vineyard in Anderson Valley, is located in the “Deep End” of the valley, west of the town of Philo. The maritime influence and moderate daytime temperatures contribute to the wine’s elegant flavor profile and silky tannins. This blend represents the confluence of two eras of Savoy Pinot Noir – the original, mature blocks of Dijon clones 115 and 114, and the younger plantings of California “heritage clones,” including Martini, Calera, Swan, and Mt. Eden.
