96pts Wine Independent
The 2022 Far Coast Vineyard Chardonnay rockets out with vibrant notes of green mango, guava, and fresh pineapple opening out to hints of crushed rocks, sea spray, and baking bread. The medium to full-bodied palate is wonderfully elegant and soft-spoken, with seamless freshness leading to a long and savory finish. This wine was barrel fermented and aged in French oak. Native strains were used for alcoholic and malolactic fermentation and the wine is unfined and unfiltered. The estate Far Coast Vineyard is from blocks located on a mountain ridge north of Fort Ross on the Sonoma Coast, planted to Clone 15, Dijon 95, and Entav 809 at an elevation of 700 feet.

Lively aromas of fresh tangerine, pear and lime peel dominate the nose of this Chardonnay. The palate gives waves of fresh citrus, spice, honeysuckle and apple, with bright and focused acidity dancing along the palate.
Winery Notes
Hartford Family Winery was founded in 1993 as a result of Don and Jennifer Hartford's appreciation for the wines, the people, and the unique vineyards near their Russian River Valley home. Located in the Sonoma County town of Forestville, the winery is about 15 miles from the cool Pacific Coast.
Making delicious wines of high personality is directly related to the difficult locations of the Hartford family's vineyard sources, the limited production of their bottlings and the varietals they use. "Character through adversity" is an expression that the Hartford family believes to apply to both people and grapevines, and they feel that surviving adversity builds character, and personality, in both.
