From the famed Third-Growth, Chateau d'Issan in the Margaux appellation. "Le Haut" is three miles due west of the main estate in Arsac in the Haut-Medoc. This 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot blend offers fantastic accessibility out of the gate with a vigorous decant. The superb 2016 vintage showed with solid wines at every level of the Bordeaux hierarchy, especially in the Haut-Medoc. The wine has a bright and vivid bouquet of dark cherry, blueberry, and lead pencil. This fruit component also drives the pallet with a medium-bodied texture and mineral accents.

Winemaker Notes

This wine is made from fruit grown on plots 5 km (3 miles) west of the estate in Arsac in the Haut-Médoc appellation area beside the vineyards of other Classed Growths. Le Haut-Médoc d’Issan has a limited annual production of about 18,000 bottles. It uses the dominant Medoc grape varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
