Tasting Notes
The characteristic fruit bouquet of Haložan wine evokes notes of white flowers, lemons, yellow apples, and stone fruits. Its clean and pleasant aroma translates into a refreshing experience on the palate. This light, youthful, and distinctly fruity wine strikes a balance between residual sugar and vibrant acidity. With its refined taste and pleasant body, it creates a harmonious composition, and is an ideal choice for refreshing moments, whether paired with mineral water, enjoyed during Sunday lunches, or any time in between. Additionally, it serves as a versatile seasoning for various sauces, stews, soups, and other dishes.
Winemaker Notes
The Slovenian wine blend with the longest tradition, composed of grape varieties characteristic of the wine-growing sub-region of Haloze, consists of Welsh and Rhine Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Furmint, Sauvignon Blanc, and a minimal addition of Muscats. Each variety contributes its essential element to the mosaic of harmony found in this immensely popular wine.
The first vintage of Haložan, dating back to 1961, made its way onto wine lists and store shelves in 1962. Today, Haložan represents a modern, harmonious, and versatile wine that carries a touch of tradition and the unique characteristics of the region. Only the finest hand-picked grapes are deemed suitable for this wine.
Some claim that Haložan is best enjoyed as a spritzer, although in recent years it has also impressed those seeking a light and refreshing drink.
