91pts Wine Enthusiast
Vibrantly colored in the glass, this Pinot shows layers of raspberry and cherry aromas across a charmingly focused nose. Plusher in texture, the palate brings waves of lavish tannin dancing with juicy acidity amid all of that cherry-berry mélange spiced with black tea and bitter cocoa.
Wine Spectator
Open and expressive, with hibiscus, blood orange and tea notes that carry through the slightly high-pitched finish. The structure is a bit taut, but this red shows freshness and drive. Drink now through 2029. 2,802 cases made.
Vinous
The 2022 Pinot Noir Sebella is a very beautiful wine. The Sebella emerges from the Sonoma Coast, so it is not an estate wine, but it does very much capture the personality of that part of Sonoma in its nervy, vibrant personality. A healthy dollop of stems (40%) adds to the wine’s savory character. Bright red cherry, chalk, white pepper and mint overtones linger.
Winemaker Notes
We work in partnership with like-minded growers along the sonoma coast to craft a wine of intense fruit complexity, depth and structure, mirroring the age-worthy wines of the hanzell estate.
Intriguing and mouthwatering aromas of pomegranate, Bing cherry, cranberry, wild blueberry, tangerine, cherry tobacco, Daikon radish and redwood forest floor emanate from the glass. Dense in flavor, the palate meets all expectations with additional notes of blood orange and kumquat carried on a lovely texture which is velvety, taut and lifted all at once. Fermented with 41% whole cluster, the 2022 Hanzell “Sebella” Pinot Noir finish is long, juicy and simply delicious.
