A pretty core of fruit here with black cherries and berries, with orange peel and hints of chocolate. Hazelnut. Fresh.
Winemaker Notes
Chateau Plincette is a charming wine from the small, high quality right-bank appellation of Pomerol in the famous Bordeaux region of France. It is a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. It has amazing blackberry and plum fruit notes along with mocha, liquorice, cedar and leather. Although youthful, the wine is approachable with the fruit being bright and soft and tannins blowing off after a quick decanting.
Chateau Plincette is owned by Jean Pierre Estager and consists of 2 hectares of vineyard located on gravel and sandy soils in the south of Pomerol. Production is around 1000 cases per year, so a small operation even by Pomerol standards. The wine is made at Jean Pierre’s other Pomerol Chateau, La Cabanne, and benefits from state of the art wine making facilities following the complete rebuild of the winery from fire in 2010.
