92pts Jasper Morris Inside Burgundy
One new barrel but otherwise none were bought for 2021. Mid lemon colour. Here the bouquet is particularly backward. Then comes quite a lot more volume of fruit on the palate, finishing on some new wood. More white fruit but with some spicy yellow plums too. Slightly soft, then a little saline. Drink from 2029-2035.
Bill Nanson Burgundy Report
(2 vines – 263m long rows – the longest of the domaine! Including Bâtard on the end of the same line) Again a width of floral perfume – redolent of the Folatières. Extra incisive – but not hard – gorgeous clarity of flavour – and then breadth, breadth, breadth of finishing flavour – a worthy step up again! Bravo!
Importer Notes
Domaine Paul Pernot is synonymous with Puligny-Montrachet. For the last 30 years, the estate – alongside Domaine Leflaive and Domaine de Montille (previously Château de Puligny-Montrachet) – has been one of the largest shareholders in the appellation, playing a significant role in maintaining its reputation for complex, expansive, mineral-tinged Chardonnay. Their wines have exquisite delicacy and poise while remaining rich, ripe and with the structure to age.
