Winemaker Notes
Established in 2006, Alpha Omega is a project by winemakers Jean Hoefliger and Michel Rolland. Their mission is "to create artisanal wines drawing on Old World vineyard handcrafted practices and emphasis on unique terroir... combined with New World technology." The name II refers to both sides—the Alpha and the Omega— as dual approaches to winemaking. The winery is located on the Rutherford Bench in Napa Valley, but they source fruit "from a range of sub-appellations stretching from the mountain slopes of Atlas Peak, Spring Mountain and Howell Mountain to valley floor vineyards in Coombsville and St. Helena." 2018's Proprietary Red is a blend of 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc, and 4% Petit Verdot, aged 22 months in French oak (75% new). The winery notes this vintage as "a dream growing season and harvest" and describes this release as "handcrafted from fruit grown in premium vineyards that truly express the diversity of terroirs in Napa Valley.
Blend: 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec
